MEXICO WINS!!!!!

Hola

Happy Fathers Day to all the Fathers out there!

This week was really good especially because Mexico beat Germany in the World Cup. I did not see the game but walking in the street I could defintely tell that they won yesterday jajjaja. The people are so happy here and it is so fun to see the cultura and how much they love soccer. I honestly love it here in Mexico with the people, food, and cultura. You just feel the love the people have here and it is so awesome! We will see what Mexico can do now with this momentum of beating Germany.

This week was filled with lots of things honestly. I had lots of meetings and conferences. On Thursday we had Conferencia de Zona and it was a good time. Honestly being there with so many misioneros and pres just feels so awesome. I truly love being a missionary, the weirdest part about it all is that the misioneros that had like little over a year when I got here are all going home. The time is sure flying by fast out here in the mision. I can honestly feel the love that Presidente Mann has for each and every one of us. The power of this work is so awesome and something that I have learned is no it is not easy but it is is not easy because the Lord wants us to work hard and fight through the hard times and bring people into the true Gospel! In this life it is definitely not easy but the Lord wants to see how strong we really are and how much we are willing to keep pushing on. Something that will really help us in this life is metas (goals). The metas help us stay focused and to have a point to reach and will be hard for anyone to knock us off our path in achieving it. In the mission Elder Garcia and I have really focused on these metas to help us in this area, yes it is hard but I know that we can acheieve them without a doubt. I challenge to you guys if you don´t have metas right now to sit down and right some metas that will help you in your life. It can have to do with the gospel and just in general en la vida. Never lose your focus and keep strong to the things youy believe in because there are people that want you to be focusing on other things. Stick out and be different!!

This week I finished the Book of Mormon en español and it feels so great. It was something I started when I had 6 months and my goal was to study it in spanish and use a seminary manual with it too. I have learned so much from reading it just this one time in Spanish. I am going to start reading it again for sure! I can definitely testify of the power of the Book of Mormon and the message it brings. If you haven´t read it, read it! If you have read it well read it again. Everytime we read we will learn more and more doctrina. This week I saw the power that this book has. This week Elder Garcia and I were talking to an Hna that is un menos activa and she has 2 daughters that have autism. Her daughter walked down while we were talking to her and she started screaming at her mom and was super upset with her. She was just yelling and yelling and yelling and wouldn´t stop. The Hna told us that it had been happening a lot and she didn´t know how to calm her down. I felt the impression to start reading the Book Of Mormon with her even though there was a lot of screamin and noise. We started to read and like halfway through the chapter her daughter stopped and started to listen to us reading. After we finished reading the Hna asked her daughter why she stopped screaming and she said that she felt the Spirit. All of her family is baptized and when she said that the Spirit hit me so strong. The Book of Mormon brings power and can answer any question that we may have. It truly has the plenitud del evangelio de jesuscristo! I love this Gospel, the Book of Mormon, and being able to preach about it all!

Hope all is great and everyone has a great week! GO MEXICO!!!!

Week 1 in Volcanes

Hola

This week was a long one for me. It was a long week of getting to know the área here in Volcanes and los miembros. Elder Garcia only has one ciclio aqui en Volcanes so he doesn´t know much of the area either so we are working together to know where everything is and where we can find more work. There is a little bit of work here in Volcanes but Elder Garcia and I have a lot of work to do this cycle. Honestly this week was filled with a little bit of frustration because this area is filled with cerradas. This area is more of pueblo kind of area so it isn't ciudad. My whole mission I have been in city and so it has definitely been taking some getting used to that is for sure. Well this area is basically locked in behind rejas well the houses are anyway so it is really hard to contact people. I got super frustrated this week just because people wouldn´t let us in the cerradas to talk with people or contact the houses. Contacting and talking with the people have been something that he desarrollado amar. Elder Garcia and I really focused on this week looking for new people to teach. Just coming from Polanco to here was a big change for me because I was used to having something to do every hour and a half and I know that we can get this area like that too with lots of work. We didn´t have much success with finding more people to teach but it is alright, I know that the Lord is preparing people but we haven´t found them yet. Something that Elder Garcia and I have done this week too in the comidas is to ask for referencias and to get to know the members better because the members have lost the confidence in the misioneros in this barrio. I really want to help that relationship between us and them to get stronger because that is where the work is going to come from.

I really like my zone here in Ixtapaluca, even though I feel like we are so far from everything haha. This week I have honestly felt like I am in a dream haha because it is wierd not seeing taxis or combis and it is super calm here. It has been a while that I have gone without hearing so much noise in the street haha. In my first lesson here in Volcanes with una investigadora se llama Maria Elena she saw us and like went to the other room. She kept yelling at us to go away and that she didn´t want to listen to us. Her husband acaba de fallecer hace un mes mas o menos. She is really having a hard time acepting it all and wants to be left alone by everyone. So we respected her decision and started talking with the rest of the family who is miembros and we started talking to them about the blessings of the gospel and the blessings that they have seen in their life when all of a sudden Maria Elena came around the corner crying and started to ask for our help. We began to talk to her about her esposo and that she will see him again but there are some things that she needs to do here on the Earth first. She listened to us and listened to us as we taught her El Plan de Salvacion and all the blessings that it brings in our lives when she made a random comment for when she can be baptized. It kind of threw Elder Garcia and I off guard but we started to talk to her and told her when she feels ready. The Espiritu was so strong in this moment and I felt that the Espiritu was touching her heart too. Vamos a seguir trabajando con ella para ver como es su progreso y en cuales maneras podemos ayudarla. Read the Book of Mormon, I promise that you will find your respuestas there and will feel of the Spirit because it is the word of God!

This week we had an actividad se llama Viaje a Hawaii con todo el estaca Ixtapaluca. We invited investigadores y miembros to join and it was so awesome! What happened in the actividad is the miembros and investigadores bought a ticket for the plane and the plane ends up falling and crashing and we take the members through the mundo de los espíritus and los reinos de gloria. It was such an awesome activity and was a testament to me and made me so motivated to work hard here in this life to achieve the reino celestial. I am so happy to be here as a misionero to help teach the families can be together forever and to help the families enter the waters of baptism and perseverar hasta el fin. I love being a missionary! Hope all is well with you guys and that you have a great week!

Bye to Polanco and Hi to Volcanes

Hola

This week was super awesome honestly. I don´t have a lot of time to talk today so this email is going to be short. This week we had the baptism of Kevin Martinez and there couldn´t be a better way to finish my time in Polanco than baptizing Kevin. After months of work with him and hearing him say after his baptism that he wants to serve a mission made me so happy! He is one of my best friends and I was so glad to have the chance to baptize him! Well on Saturday I got the news that I would be headed out of Polanco and headed to serve the Lord in another area. The end of this week was spent saying bye to families in Polanco and mis conversos that I will remember forever. Yes it was super hard to say bye especially after 6 months in Polanco but the Lord needed me here in another area. Now I am in barrio Volcanes with Elder Garcia. He is from Utah and I am looking forward to working with him. Presidente has asked me to be District Leader as well here in Volcanes. I am looking forward to all this cycle can bring and I hope that Elder Garcia and I can find the fruits that the Lord has prepared here in Volcanes.

This week in Polanco Elder Santiago and I were working with our investigator Hno Francisco and he started off the leccion by telling us that he was no longer going to listen to us. El Hno has been progressing very well and it made us so sad to see that he was no longer going to listen to us because his wife was not going to let us in the house anymore and they were having problems. After he had told us that I felt the prompting to read the Book of Mormon with him but especially 3 Nefi 11 and as we were reading during the lesson the Hno read a verse over the baptism. He finished reading the verse and stopped and started to think. He looks up at us and says "being baptized is muy importante isn´t it?" We began to teach him about baptism and the things that are important to be baptized like el arrepentimiento y la fe and we challenged him to probar su fe and now he is continuing to listen to us and said that he would like to be baptized. This was just a testimony to me how much power el Libro de Mormon has in the lives here. The message that Jesus has for the nephites when he came here to the Americas is so powerful. I challenge you all to read 3 Nephi 11 and think about what you can better to follow the council that the Lord gives us in this chapter.

Well this week is going to be filled with getting to know this area and seeing what we can do to get better and help this area. I am grateful for this oportunidad to serve in this area even though it was hard saying bye to Polanco. Hope everything is well!
